Being a Visiting Artist for the Craft Center at UO

I set out on this journey as an artist right after I had kids. I had always wanted to be a mother, but once I gave birth I found myself yearning for a bit more of an identity outside of motherhood again--I had lost a sense of self. I started this business as a way to earn a little extra income for my family while I stayed at home with my kids. I would have never guessed that it would become my full time job, that I'd be able to say that I support my family by creating hand embroidered fabric collages.

Fast forward to this year, and I am now the visiting artist for the University of Oregon's Craft Center. I cannot express just how much this honor and experience means to me. My art is currently being displayed on the second floor art gallery of the EMU on campus.

Obviously a lot of hard work and long hours happened between the start of my business and now. And I'll reflect more on that hopefully some day soon, but for now, I just wanted to share for anyone out there reading this who's also trying to walk down this path--keep going! Keep honing in on your craft! Keep creating!

And celebrate those big moments, which is exactly what I am doing now :)

If you'd like to see the exhibit, head on over to the EMU any day of the week, you can see my art for free during the building's open hours, now through Winter Term.
